The IEEE Quantum Week 2021 program will feature scheduled BoF Sessions addressing timely topics of interest on Quantum Computing and Engineering. BoF sessions are lively discussions of 30-45 minutes and are scheduled between the main 90-minutes conference sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">Please refer to the detailed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ieeecsqce.wpengine.com\/2021\/authors\/call-for-contributions\/\">Calls for Contributions<\/a><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">&nbsp;as well as&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ieeecsqce.wpengine.com\/2021\/about\/conference-topics\/\">Conference Topics<\/a><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">&nbsp;and&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/ieeecsqce.wpengine.com\/2021\/authors\/submission-deadlines\/\">Submission Deadlines.<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Please refer to the pages&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/cfp\/QCE21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EasyChair CFP<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<span style=\"text-align: center;\"><a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=qce21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">submit your contribution using EasyChair.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-align: center;\">For more information, please consult<span style=\"text-align: left; font-weight: bolder;\">&nbsp;last year\u2019s conference program for now:<\/span><span style=\"text-align: left;\">&nbsp;<\/span>&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/qce20.quantum.ieee.org\/bofs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">QCE20 Birds-of Feather Sessions<\/a><span style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/span>and the&nbsp;<a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/ieeecs-media.computer.org\/media\/conferences\/quantum\/quantumweek2020-program.pdf\">QCE20 Final Conference Program<\/a><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Proposal Evaluation Criteria<\/h3>\n<p>Birds-of-Feather session proposals are accepted according to the following evaluation criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">The potential of the BoF to stimulate discussion on quantum computing and engineering research and practice<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Expected interest in the BoF\u2019s topic among people in the quantum computing and engineering communities \u2014 creating excitement and drawing an audience<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The credibility of the organizers across several dimensions including knowledge, experience, constructiveness, diversity&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Interactive nature of the BoF\u2019s format; will there be interaction with audience<\/li>\n<li>Experience and ability of the BoF\u2019s proposers and moderator to organize a highly interactive and stimulating BoF<\/li>\n<li>Balance and synergy of the BoF with respect to IEEE Quantum Week 2021 events<\/li>\n<li>Abstract of the proposal should be clear, complete, and articulate and ready for publication on the IEEE Quantum Week 2021 website<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>BoF Proposal Submission Format<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Each BoF&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">proposal must conform at the time of submission to the&nbsp;<\/span><a style=\"font-size: 1rem; background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/conferences\/publishing\/templates.html\">IEEE Formatting Instructions<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">(i.e., title in 24pt font and full text in 10pt type, LaTEX users must use \\documentclass[10pt,conference]{IEEEtran} without including the compsoc or compsocconf option). The submission must also comply with the<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">&nbsp;<\/span><a style=\"font-size: 1rem; background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/journals.ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org\/become-an-ieee-journal-author\/publishing-ethics\/\">IEEE Policy on Authorship<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; font-size: 1rem;\">Each BoF proposal must include the following sections in one PDF file and in the order specified below. Sections 1-8 must not exceed three (3) pages. Each proposal must be submitted via the&nbsp;<\/span><a style=\"background-color: #ffffff; font-weight: bolder; font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=qce21\">EasyChair submission website<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; font-size: 1rem;\">. The call for papers and proposals can also be found on<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; font-size: 1rem;\">&nbsp;<\/span><a style=\"background-color: #ffffff; font-weight: bolder; font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/cfp\/QCE21\">EasyChair CFP<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: bolder; font-size: 1rem;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Please submit<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: bold;\">ONE PDF file<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">that includes all components of the proposal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Each proposal must include the following sections, in the order specified below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><b>BoF title<\/b>&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">\u2014 descriptive and attractive to potential participants.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>BoF abstract<\/b> \u2014 200-250 words to be posted on QCE21 website.<\/li>\n<li><b style=\"background-color: transparent;\">BoF authors&nbsp;<\/b><span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">\u2014 Contact information for all BoF organizers, <\/span><b style=\"background-color: transparent;\">main BoF contact, BoF moderator.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>BoF motivation and objectives<\/b> \u2014 how will this BoF engage the audience and how will the audience benefit.<\/li>\n<li><b>BoF relevance<\/b> \u2014 relevance to the fields of quantum computing and\/or quantum engineering (e.g., relate to QCE21 topics).<\/li>\n<li><b>BoF proposal<\/b> \u2014 detailed BoF proposal and\/or position statements.<\/li>\n<li><b>BoF audience<\/b> \u2014 what is the target audience \u2014 ideally a mix of participation from industry, government, and academia.<\/li>\n<li><b>BoF biographies<\/b> \u2014 brief biography of each organizer \u2014&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; background-color: transparent;\">200-250&nbsp;words per organizer&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">to be posted on the QCE21 website.<br><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, 'Noto Sans', sans-serif; color: #333333;\">Important BoF Proposal Submission Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"font-size: 16px; background-color: #ffffff;\">\n<li style=\"font-size: 16px;\">All participants, including BoF organizers, invited speakers, and invited guests, must register for the IEEE Quantum Week 2021.
