Microsoft. His research focuses on quantum computation and quantum communication and his main interest is the development of new quantum algorithms that give a significant speed-up when compared with traditional, classical algorithms. Before joining Microsoft, Dr. van Dam was Head Quantum Algorithms at QC Ware and a professor at the departments of computer science and physics at UC Santa Barbara. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oxford (UK) his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands).
