Each year, the IEEE Computer Society (CS) presents its major achievement awards to the brightest professionals and scientists in the field of computer science and computer engineering. Awardees are nominated by their peers for their outstanding discoveries and contributions.

Abstract: Abstract: This panel session aims to engage a diverse group of distinguished IEEE Computer Society award recipients in informative, thought-providing discussions. These experts in computer science and engineering from industry, academia and government will highlight their experience, ideas, challenges, and predictions for the field. This panel session consists of three segments. The first panel is focused on education. The segment will highlight IEEE’s position at the intersection of science, industry, and education. Panelists will address education and professional development challenges in our fast-moving field, how IEEE plays a role, what should be thought about differently, and the future of life-long learning. The second segment will focus on the application of technology. The segment will cover IEEE’s function as a bridge between scientific intricacies and practical industry-relevant applications. Topics will include challenges to converting theory to practice, consideration of ethics, and IEEE standards, among other topics. The third panel will focus on innovation and research. This panel will feature the Computer Pioneer award recipient and other major award recipients talking about idea generation, the challenges they encountered, the impact of their breakthroughs, the role of IEEE in shaping innovation, and their thoughts on the future of Quantum technology.
