Due to the uncertainties about the pandemic, we decided to hold IEEE Quantum Week 2021 as a 100% digital or virtual event. IEEE Quantum Week 2021 will be held in a digital-only or virtual-only format during the week of Oct 17-22, 2021. QCE21 was originally scheduled to be held in Broomfield, Colorado which is in the Mountain Time Zone (MDT) or UTC-6. Just like last year, the QCE21 daily program will be orchestrated using a virtualization platform and broadcast from 8:30 to 18:45 Mountain Time. Recorded sessions will be available for registered QCE21 attendees a few hours after the live sessions until the end of Dember 2021.
QCE21 sessions consist of mixes of pre-recorded video presentations and live Zoom meetings. Paper, keynote, and tutorial presentations consist of pre-recorded presentations followed by live Q/A components. Exhibits, Workshops, Panels, Posters, Birds of Feather sessions consist mostly of lengthy live and interactive components with the occasional intermixed pre-recorded video presentation.
The QCE20 organizing team gained significant experience in orchestrating a successful virtual event. In 2020, we went through three planning iterations from an in-person, to a hybrid, and finally to a 100% virtual event. In the end, we only had about a month to transition to a 100% virtual event in part due to the force majeure conditions in our hotel contract. For 2021, we decided much earlier to go with a 100% virtual event. This will not only simplify the organization but also guarantee a safe event for international attendees from all over the globe.
Thank you very much for all your help, support, and patience in assembling the materials for the virtual QCE21 conference. We really appreciate all your hard work in getting your presentations ready and figuring out how to orchestrate live sessions, such as workshops, panels, and Q/A sessions in this digital world.
